POSITION: Research Scientist
Salary: $49,535.00 (PhD degree)

The Psychophysiology Laboratory in the Division of Cognitive Neuroscience, New York State Psychiatric Institute and the Department of Psychiatry of Columbia University, is seeking a full-time Research Scientist. The proposed starting date could be as early as October 2009 with a guaranteed funding for two years; extension is conditional upon additional funding. The anticipated annual starting salary would be $49,535.00, plus excellent fringe benefits and location pay, depending on education and experience.

 
DEPARTMENT: COGNITIVE NEUROSCIENCE
 
DUTIES:

This position is for a postdoctoral researcher with extensive experience in electrophysiologic methods, particularly time-frequency analysis, who is interested applying these methods to develop new analytic strategies for EEG/ERP studies in psychiatric patients (depression and schizophrenia) and healthy adults. Duties include development and/or modification of Matlab scripts (EEGLAB), analyses of existing EEG/ERP data, and creative engagement with a team of experienced electrophysiologists.

 
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:The applicant should have a PhD degree in Psychology, Neuroscience, Biomedical Engineering or a related discipline, and direct experience in cognitive and/or electrophysiologic research. Expertise in time-frequency analysis using EEGLAB and/or Matlab is essential, and familiarity with additional programming languages (Pascal, C++) and/or statistical packages (SPSS, BMDP) is an additional asset. Preference will also be given to individuals interested in pursuing a research career in psychopathology and/or psychophysiology.
