Dr. Tarik Bel-Bahar is a senior experimental psychologist who joined the Psychophysiology Laboratory in Spring 2019 as a Research Scientist. He completed his doctorate in personality and neuroscience at the University of Oregon, and has held postdoctoral positions at Anna Freud Centre/University College London, University of California San Diego, Duke University, and University of Michigan. He is interested in 1) translational applications of EEG-derived brain dynamics for enhanced assessment, treatment, and prevention of mental and physical health disorders, and 2) advanced EEG topics such as functional connectivity and single-trial metrics. His past research included affective perception, social cognition, emotion regulation, meditation, attention, and consciousness. He also has interests in neuropsychological models of religious experience, contemplation, and altered states.
